We were welcomed by friendly Kim at the public car park and got reassured that she had never had any problems with guests' cars parked there. We got the ground floor room with ensuite and the shared kitchen was just opposite our room. Kim suggested some restaurants and takeaways and made us feel free to use the kitchen as well. The bed was comfortable, the shower powerful and the kitchen handy for making breakfast. And for a match weekend, the price was very sharp compared to budget hotels elsewhere in Newcastle/Gateshead. St. James Park is about 12min drive from here.
Real good value for money at the Hoppers Cottage. Location good. Car park close by. Choice of places to eat nearby, Italian, Indian, Pizza, Chinese, traditional Fish & Chips all real close. Lidl supermarket across the road as well as petrol station. Facilities? I was in downstairs Room 1. Very clean and comfortable. Modern en-suite shower and toilet. Towels and soaps provided. Armchairs, T.V., Iron and board, fridge. Loads of tea coffee and milk with kettle. Wonderful facilities. No breakfast provided but you are told that. However great kitchen with all you would need to provide your own. And so well stocked and clean. Local info and books provided. There are only two other rooms so can't be a mass of guests to clash with if you did use to cook. But at last resort a Greggs close by for bacon butties if needed. Entrance is not on main street but round back however hosts welcome you and are extremely nice. So great welcome from nice people. Use again? Definitely.
This was a great find for me. I had a long stay and the kitchen and refrigerator made it feel a little more like home. There was a grocery store within a two minute walk, and several restaurants when I didn't feel like cooking. The owner was very friendly and always made sure that everything was in order. You will not find better accommodations in this area. Thank you very much for a pleasant stay
