Wonderful little hotel, very polite, hard working staff. Would highly recommend this place over the big chain budgets! Would stay again!

Stayed here recently while down in Newcastle for a stag weekend. From the pictures on the website the hotel looked fine. The staff are extremely friendly and very helpful and gave us loads of good places to go to. On entering the hotel I thought it was very clean and fresh and well maintained. However on entering the room I was staying in it went down hill. The bed sheet was all stained and marked down the bottom and the single bed looked like it had been lying in water for a period of time, It was covered in brown marks and water damage along the bottom, the shower head was all dirt and hanging off the wall and the hand basin was leaking and smelling of dirty water. The room looked like a kid had put it together. I may sound harsh but one thing I expect from a hotel no matter what the star rating should be that it is clean. Very disappointed! I am giving two stars simply because the staff where nice. Would not stay here again.

Hansen Hotel is an excellent budget option if you are visiting Newcastle. The hotel was very clean with comfortable beds, had a good location within quick walking distance to a subway stop and about a 10 minute walk to downtown and customer service while I was there was excellent (the female supervisor of the hotel was friendly and made me feel welcome to be there). It is across the street from a small grocery/convenience store (a Tesco limited is about a 5 minute walk)-it is about a 30 minute walk from the main Newcastle train station (or a very quick subway ride from there). One drawback is there is not an elevator/lift in the hotel. There is a free limited breakfast with free coffee, cold cereal snacks and bananas and a small bar downstairs if you want to hang out. An excellent value for budget travelers to Newcastle.

This hotel is a problem I come to stay the room they gave me was cold, so they moved me . The man was excellent however, the second day i had a guest coming to meet me before going out. As they arrived, the reception man, Anis, yelled at my colleague. Then told them they could not enter, and did not show any respect to my friend and did not let her wait nor notify me. They were supposed to come the next day but we're not comfortable coming to the lobby. Appalling attitude of this staff/policy towards my personal and professional relationships. I cannot not with good heart reccomend this place.at the moment.

Been over from Northern Ireland a few times and this is a great wee place. Meg the owner is accommodating, helpful and very friendly. Great rooms for the price and very clean. You can also get an amazing breakfast for £5.
